CLOSURE OF MUSEUMS AND VISITOR CENTRES

THE COVID-19 IS CONTINUING TO SPREAD, AS IN MANY COUNTIES, SOUTH AFRICA HAS INTRODUCED SPECIAL MEASURES TO DEAL WITH THE PANDEMIC.

IN LINE WITH THE MEASURES INTRODUCED BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENCY, THE KZN AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE HAS RESOLVED TO CLOSE ALL ITS VISITOR CENTRES AND MUSEUMS WITH EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY 25, MARCH 2020.  THE DEVELOPMENTS ON THE COVID-19 SITUATION WILL CONTINUE TO BE OBSERVED AND THE DECISION AS TO WHEN THE CENTRES WILL RE-OPEN WILL BE TAKEN IN LINE WITH GOVERNMENT DIRECTIVES REGARDING THE OPENING OF MUSEUMS AND PUBLIC SPACES

VISITORS WILL STILL BE ALLOWED TO VISIT THE OPEN SITES e.g. MONUMENTS AND MEMORIALS.

THE FOLLOWING VISITOR CENTRES AND MUSEUMS WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

  1. KWAZULU CULTURAL MUSEUM –  ONDINI (ALL FACILITIES, INCLUDING THE STADIUM)
  2. KWADUKUZA INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
  3. RORKE’S DRIFT/SHIYANE ORIENTATION CENTRE
  4. ISANDLWANA INTERPRETIVE CENTRE
  5. UMGUNGUNDLOVU MULTI-MEDIA CENTRE
