Richenau Mission on the banks of the Polela River near Underberg was established in 1886 as the first daughter mission of Marianhill Trappist Monastery outside Durban. It is situated halfway between Bulwer and Underberg on the R617. The large mission church has impressive murals and stained glass windows which are well worth seeing. Accommodation and tours of the site are available.
